Vacation: Exploring Kota Kinabalu

My 4-day short getaway to Kota Kinabalu (KK) was an eye opener... I stayed at Grace Ville Low-Rise Condominium, Sembulan which was just a short drive to and fro from the airport... The surroundings looked beautiful and peaceful...

Baby wanted to swim, but due to our tight schedule, we had to give a miss, probably next time then!

The living room....

The staircase will lead us to our bedrooms...

It was a laid back holiday, we always read this newspaper (The Borneo Post) in the morning before heading for our brekkie and actitives...

My Baby posed in front of the Land Rover which brought us around KK town...

There is no surprise for me to take a photo-shot with the 4WD, Land Rover too...

This photo was taken during my car journey... KK's standard of living is lower than KL, as KL is one generation ahead than them.... No doubt, they are not as modernized as the people in KL, but I personally think that the locals are friendlier here in KK, but more importantly, I love the laid back feeling living lifestyle in KK...

Jess Baby's favorite hobby, Cam-whoring...

We spotted this very rundown stall on the roadside... They are selling authentic bites from Kota Kinabalu, Borneo.

Grilled corn, very healthy local cheap eats...

I enjoyed the delicious cob of grilled corn, it tasted so down-to-earth, it gave me an original feeling that I can never find in Singapore.

We went for an excursion to Sabah Museum... The museum contains not only the museum proper, but also an ethno botanic garden, a zoo and a heritage village...

Our tickets to the Sabah's culture, social and natural history.

I can't share any photos, as photography was strictly prohibited at all times in the museum, but I would like to share one highlight in the museum that lures a lot visitors from around the world, The Sabah's Bryde Whale Legacy.

The largest Bryde Whale skeletal in Asia which was discovered in Sabah, is currently on display at Sabah Museum, Kota Kinabalu from 1 Jan 2012 - 31 Dec 2012.

We went to Sunday Market @ Gaya Street... The street is closed to traffic and transforms to a mega fair every Sunday morning... You can find almost anything there like local handicrafts, souvenirs, clothing food, drinks, Chinese medicines, delicacies and even animals like chickens and pet dogs, cats, birds and even rabbits... Show your bargaining skills to purchase items at a dirt-cheap price. It is like a mini version of Chatuchak Weekend Market in BKK...

Time to go back for dinner...

The journey on our way back...

We face bad traffic in Singapore every now and then but this kind of sight is pretty rare in KK, as traffic is pretty much fine there...

Reaching 'home' soon...

About to park the car...

That concluded our actitives which include our lunch at 1Borneo Hypermall in KK town...
