Opening Ceremony: Shine Youth Festival 2012

SHINE Youth Festival is a springboard to youths between the age of 15-35 to pursue their dreams or interest. It is a stepping platform for youths to showcase their individual interests or talents and to become shining examples for youth action in Singapore. This annual festival has been receiving a great response and made their success ever since their inaugural festival in 2005. It encourages youths to enjoy a month-long extravaganza of activities and events, while giving back to society.


The theme of this year SHINE Youth Festival is ‘ASPIRATIONS’
No dream is too big to achieve if you believe in it. The theme ‘ASPIRATIONS’ serves to inspire youths to act on their passions and make a difference in their community and the world.
July is a MONTH for Youths!! Let’s put our dreams together and make them real.

More than 12,000 youths came together to express their commitment to the community at SHINE Youth Festival 2012 which was held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.


I was invited to attend the SHINE Youth Festival 2012 Opening Ceremony, and I met up my clique (Sweetie, Terence and Steven) at the Dell-Intel Chill out Corner for registration.


We got our passes and we were ready to set off our experiences of being part in the celebration of SHINE Youth Festival 2012.


Before we proceed to witness the ‘Riding the Wave of Social Movements’, this is one of the program highlights for SHINE Youth Festival 2012 Opening Ceremony.


We were kinda attracted to the Jenga game...


Four of us took turns to play and Steven was the overall winner, all thanks to me LOL, I made him the winner as I toppled the whole stack of blocks down.

We had so much fun at SHINE Youth Festival 2012...


After the game, we went to see the Community Service Marathon’s, ‘Walk for a Cause’. 300 youths formed an 800m-long cloth dragon and walked from Ngee Ann City to 313@Somerset and back. This walk also aimed to increase public awareness of community issues and promote social responsibility.


Save the world, is everyone's responsibility. Empty can drinks have been recycled to make this gigantic dragon, and kudos to all the people who put their effort in it.



We are the youth, hear us roar - Students from West Spring Secondary School showcasing their eco-friendly side with a "dragon" made of recycled drink cans as part of the SHINE 2012 Festival Opening's COSMO Youth Parade.


Cosmo Youth Parade was pretty interesting, we saw a lot of youths dressed up in their favorite comic movie and Japanese Manga characters. Spider-Man was there too to grace a photography session at SHINE Youth Festival 2012.

[Nights with Netflix] Screening of Next Gen

Thanks Hpility , for extending your invite to me to attend the 'Nights with Netflix' event. This event was to check out Netflix's Singapore office, as well as to catch a special preview of an awesome screening! photo credits to hpility.sg   Netflix Singapore's office is located at Marina One West Tower , and it looked splendid! How I wish I could work in such a wonderful environment! The pantry looks just like an eatery place, and was well stocked with drinks, snacks and even cup noodles!   Nextflix won the global rights to stream the movie 'Next Gen' , and this newly animated movIe debuts on the 7th of September 2018 .  'Next Gen' is a family-friendly movie with pretty good computer animated visuals for a non-Disney/ Pixar/ DreamWorks production.     This film, 'Next Gen' was based on a short online comic from the Chinese Multimedia Company 'Baozou' .
