[Opening Night] Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS

Australia’s most successful theatrical export, Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS performs at the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands for a strictly limited season from 27 May to 1 June for eight performances only!

The global dance sensation has performed in over 330 cities across six continents and has been seen by over 12 million people. Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS continues to take the world by storm! Now it’s Singapore’s turn to experience the award-winning show.

Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS is an 80-minute show combining the strength and power of workers with the precision and talent of tap dancing. A worldwide television audience of over 3.4 billion saw 1,000 Tap Dogs performers performing in the Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

All thanks to Base Entertainment Asia, I got my seats secured for one of Australia’s most successful theatrical exports, Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS. I was given a pair of STALL-SEAT tickets, and we were pretty looking forward to the surprises that TAP DOGS had prepared for us. I was thankful for my seats as water was splashed all over the stage and the front-seated audience towards the end of the show.

Upon entering the theatre, we were greeted by a backdrop of a foot-print. The show features high-energy dance numbers, theatrical performances and live music performed by the cast and musicians, who bring an imaginary steel works to life in a fast-paced, unstoppable spectacular.

Whether they are in water, upside-down or jumping through scaffoldings, Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS have been performing to the beat of their own drum since their world premiere at the Sydney Theatre Festival in January 1995.

The 80-minutes adrenaline rush performance without intermission creates several scenes, and I love the basketball segment very much.

There was no narrative and no characters being recognized but each dancer bore a different personality which was slowly revealed to the audience as the show continued... Although the beginning of the performance was rather slow and boring but it picked it up well towards halfway mark and I personally enjoyed the last segment which included water, as it is pretty hilarious.

Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS is a show not to be missed this weekend as it combines high energy dance, theatrical performance and live music. Dein Perry’s TAP DOGS is the perfect show for all ages.
